The greenish water to the red lighthouse to the blue sky made quite the rainbow of colors at the breakwater. It was very cold, and I was standing on a icy pier with water on each side of me, so I didn’t take long to get this shot and get back in the car!

Missing the 23 Bus
The sweeping curve of the buildings on this street is unique on its own, but the traffic zooming by at night is what really makes it come to life. I wasn’t actually trying to catch this bus, but the driver thought I was for a minute until she saw the camera setup and happily drove by to give me the light trails I was looking for.
Just Coral
This section of coral was just too vibrant to pass up. I usually spend most of the time on a dive focusing on all the little animals under the ocean, but I had to make an exception when I saw this! All the different colors and textures here make for a pretty dynamic scene.
Straight Up Mercedes-Benz
You will often see a Mercedes-Benz on the road today, but not like this one. This rare 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Mayfair Special Roadster is the only one of its kind. I don’t think it will be cruising the open road any time soon as it looks quite comfortable under the museum lights.
Chilling in the Coral
This fish must have thought he was perfectly safe in the coral. Eventually I got too close and he took off, but I had time to get this shot while he was just hanging out doing his thing.
Grace and Joy at Christmas
Grace Cathedral gets all decked up for Christmas, including a clever banner that lets you know it is the season of joy!
Coastal Succulent
Succulents are all the rage for low maintenance gardens these days, but I’ve never seen one with quite this color combo before! A quick hike at Point Lobos State Park led me to some rocks covered with this stuff. I focused close to it to highlight the contrasting red and blue colors.
Tiny Pipehorse
This tiny pipehorse was easy to find on the white bottom of the ocean, but hard to photograph! He didn’t move fast but was always slowly drifting. I got him to calm down for a few seconds to get this shot. You can see him trying to use his curled tail to try to hold on to anything he can find, and his red eyes looking around to see what is up.
Zoom Zoom
Cathedrals are cool and all, but so are light trails from cars zooming by. The night was pretty quiet, but I still managed to get a few cars to drive by to light up the foreground.
Classic Murray
I bet someone used to love this bike, and now it has been taken on as a project. The owner of this shop was very proud of all of the antique bikes he had fixed up, including this old red Murray. It was made in 1959, and you won’t find a new one with this kind of style anymore.
