Make the Corner or End Up In The Drink

This is a scenic stairway that comes with a price if you don’t pay attention. Crater Lake is beautiful, but if you don’t turn when the stairs do you may find yourself falling down to the water below.

Cave Dwellers

I took some photos in the Lava River Cave with a flash that I’m sure were very bright to the people behind us. Those didn’t turn out that great. For this photo, I probably just looked like a patient guy with a camera waiting for people to walk by to take the shot. Little did they know they were all unrecognizable and free labor to create the light trails for this photo.

Crater Lake Sunset

I’m not going to lie, I was hoping for some big puffy clouds and a classic sunset when I was driving up to Crater Lake. What I got was a clear night, with a side of forest fires. The fires are horrible, but they did mean there was one moment when the sun left these streaks in the sky just after sunset.

Centerline

I went to Oregon for the nature, but sometimes the man made objects are just as interesting. This bridge was old, but the asphalt was new and the centerline was a nice complement to the bright green trees above.

Rushing Water

This may look like a relaxing place to hang out by a waterfall, but it was not. Standing here meant I was exposed to the full spray of the waterfall. I had to clean my lens and immediately take the shot before it had water drops all over it again. I could have taken this from the side, as other photographers did after walking by me and looking at me like I was crazy, but I had to have that big fallen tree sticking right out at me.

Kite Over Haystack

When I first got to Haystack Rock in Oregon I was disappointed there were so many people on the beach. I thought they would just get in my photo, but one person helped out and flew a kite to add some nice color to the sky.

Fuzzy Horizon

I miss the Oregon coast. I really like the way the horizon fades away into a fuzz and then into the sky in this shot. A great day for a drive down the coast!

Rocky Shores

Calm tide pools nearby, crashing waves and jagged rocks reaching up out of the ocean in the distance.

Portland Rose Garden

Roses are red, violets are blue.
I love Portland, how about you?

The Varsity

The Varsity Theater in Ashland Oregon. I was just going to continue strolling on by, but a perfect scene of theater goers in front of this old building made for a nice photo!
