This isn’t the typical view of Crater Lake with deep blue sky and water, but I still like it. The ominous clouds and almost grey water make the scene a little spooky.
Yellow on Purple
These flowers were very tiny but had great details. I really like the look of the little buds bursting out of the center.
Elephant Rides
Here are a few elephants that I rode outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand. We took a one day trek that included seeing these elephants, bamboo rafting, kayaking and visiting some villages. I got a shot of these two elephants in front of the bright green fields just before we left.
The Falls
On the south side of Crater Lake I found this unexpected little waterfall called Vidae Falls which was surrounded by wildflowers. I was here later in the day when it was overcast, so this little waterfall was almost as good as the lake view itself.
Orange Butterfly
On a hike I came across this little guy right in the center of a muddy trail. As far as I can tell he is some type of Western Checkerspot, but I am not a butterfly expert. What I do know is that he was very orange and had some really cool eyes!
The River
One of the first stops on a recent trip through Oregon was this spot on the Rogue River. The rushing water and lush green were a good introduction to what was in store for us on the trip.
The Ashland Hotel
I knew I had to capture this historic hotel in Ashland Oregon, the clouds were perfect and I was able to incorporate what little traffic there was in this town into the shot.
Sundial
The Sundial Bridge in Redding CA makes a pretty imposing subject. On this day I wasn’t able to use it to tell time, but the overcast sky made for a much better background.
The Lionfish
Your friend and mine, the lionfish. Just don’t touch him, he is quite poisonous. These guys were everywhere when I was scuba diving by the Similan Islands off Thailand.
