Moving Water

This was taken in a year when there was more water in California to keep rivers flowing and plants growing. Bassi Falls had plenty of snowmelt from above to create many tiny waterfalls over the granite.

Moving Water

Rushing

The top portion of South Fork Silver Creek Falls. I made sure to take a low angle on this shot to get as close as I could to the cool rushing water.

The Teacups

I hiked the South Fork of Silver Creek in the Sierras today, and of course my camera was along for the ride. The water is high right now due to the huge amount of snow we have from last winter. This section of descending pools is called the teacups. The rushing water wasn’t very tea like, but if I try hard enough I can visualize layers of little teacups spilling into one another.

Up the Falls

This is the view up Horestail Falls in the Sierra Nevadas. The hike to get to this point is pretty short, but the scramble to get to the top of the falls can be a bit of a challenge when the trail disappears!

The River

One of the first stops on a recent trip through Oregon was this spot on the Rogue River. The rushing water and lush green were a good introduction to what was in store for us on the trip.

Bassi Falls

These rocks with swirling water were at the base of Bassi Falls in the Sierra Nevada. I found some of the smaller pools with interesting water currents to be better than the actual waterfall.

Top of the Falls

On a backpacking trip I stayed overnight very near the top of Nevada Falls. This allowed me the unique opportunity of being at the top of the falls all night, and I was able to get some great shots of the sun going down!
