The Falls Below the Bridge

This angle of Christine Falls is not the one you normally see. I took this from the bridge very close to the falls, where the water drops straight down below you only a few feet away. There is a viewpoint down the road, but I decided to get up to the edge of the bridge, and shoot it top to bottom in a vertical panorama. This distorts the height of the falls and makes it feel like it is snaking through the rocks in front of you.

Kolob Terrace Sunset

It took some scouting, scrambling and a short sprint to get here in time for sunset. It wasn’t far off the road in the Kolob Terrace area of Zion, but it also wasn’t directly accessible. When a sunset calls sometimes I have to make a run for it!

Officially Fall

Well, that’s it. Fall is here. The weather doesn’t feel like it yet, but these trees in the Eastern Sierra are on full display for the changing of the season.

Circles and Rectangles

Cities don’t always have to be square.

Desert Nights

I take my camera everywhere. On this trip I didn’t expect to do much shooting, but since I brought it with me I had to get out and shoot at least once. The result was an accident, it must have been the only car that drove by while I was out there. I just happened to be in the middle of a long exposure to get the dreamy look in the palm trees. The car went by leaving the light streaks and I knew I could call it a night!

The Narrow Path

Rocky Mountain National Park earned its name on Fern Lake Trail, with lots of rough rocks every way that you look. We started our hike at Bear Lake, and after some good climbing the view opened up into this gorge with mountain peaks in all directions.

Before Sunset

Just before sunset, a cloud perfectly hid the sun to create these crazy rays of light. Smoke from wildfires wasn’t good for the air quality, but also made for some dramatic lighting over the Rocky Mountains.

Ascensor da Glória

Lisbon is a very hilly city, as any resident of the city will happily tell you. These old tracks are the home of the Ascensor da Glória, a type of train that will take you on a short ride up or down the steep hill. The interesting views were at night, when the clouds were moving and the crazy mix of sky and artificial lights took over.

Looking Both Ways

Traffic is stopped, time for a quick check both ways and then back to enjoying the music and taking in the sunset.

Cities and Clouds

I’m a sucker for cities. I’m a sucker for clouds. Lisbon is a great city, and was nice enough to provide clouds so you better believe I was out there with my camera! I started most nights on our hotel rooftop, and was able to get this shot without even leaving our temporary home!
