Zooming on Through!

I feel like I’m zooming through the week with the greatest of ease!

Missing the 23 Bus

The sweeping curve of the buildings on this street is unique on its own, but the traffic zooming by at night is what really makes it come to life. I wasn’t actually trying to catch this bus, but the driver thought I was for a minute until she saw the camera setup and happily drove by to give me the light trails I was looking for.

Stopping Traffic

Taxis run the show when it comes to traffic in NYC. Sometimes they even stop front and center in the middle of the action.

Panoramic Seattle

They call it the Emerald City, but on this night the sky turned all of Seattle purple and blue just as the sun was disappearing! It took me quite a while to get this panorama shooting 19 individual frames handheld and working around window glare, and I really like how it turned out. A combination of good light and clouds like this makes up for all the times I’ve lugged my camera around and the weather didn’t cooperate.

Locks and Stuff

Apparently it is a thing to put a lock on a public structure to profess your love. NYC is officially not in favor of the practice of people putting stuff on their structures, but I believe it makes for an interesting photo.

A Warming Sunset

The sun sets through the haze above San Francisco. These warm colors could be almost anywhere until you realize that the Golden Gate Bridge is out there between the layers.

Looking up to Crazy Skies

Wide angles can do interesting things. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. From this angle it looks as if Westminster Abbey is reaching up to some imaginary point way up high in the puffy clouds.

By Bridge, Tram or Subway…

…You can get from here to Manhattan in a hurry. This was taken from the exclusive rooftop of a friend’s apartment on Roosevelt Island looking towards Manhattan. The bright lights may look peaceful from here, but the buzz of the city is just across the river.

New Bridge, Old Cathedral

The Millennium Bridge crosses the River Thames in London, and is an excellent contrast to the iconic St. Paul’s Cathedral in the background. Many people pass here everyday as their typical commute, but I had to stop and admire the new architecture in front of the old classics.

I Miss New York City

The big city of dreams, the city that never sleeps, the home of Liz Lemon. All great things. This was a particularly fun night walking around NYC and keeping our eyes looking up. 30 Rockefeller Plaza is spectacular in the way it lights up the night sky.
