City at Night

Cities at night are one of my favorite times for photography. For now I’m staying in and getting my photography fix by going through photos I’ve taken on past trips, like this beautiful night out in Hong Kong last year.

Tafoni for Me, Tafoni for You

I’ve avoided this photo for awhile, mostly because it was so busy I didn’t really know how to edit it. Looking at it with fresh eyes, I like the way the misty day and soft green moss leads you to the intricate and weird patterns in the tafoni rock. Take a short hike from Skyline Boulevard and you too could check out these interesting rocks.

City After Sunset

Sometimes it is the darkest skies that have the best colors. After the sun goes down the little light that was left over San Francisco was deep blue and purple and very moody.

Fog City

It is unclear (get it?!?) to me why I would expect to see all of the skyline in a city known for fog. What this view lacks in a crisp view of the skyline it makes up for with a mysterious glow in the sky and the traffic below.

All the Lines

It can be easy to focus on what is in front of you in the hustle and bustle. Cities like Hong Kong are all about building towards the sky, and make it fun to take a minute to look up to really appreciate the architecture.

Hong Kong Across the Harbor

Hong Kong is fantastic. You have to make time to eat all the delicious food as well as take in the many beautiful views of the city!

Acrophobia

Hong Kong is an extremely vertical city, with many opportunities to really test out if you definitely do, or definitely do not have a fear of heights.

Hong Kong Nights

Hong Kong is an amazing city by day or by night. There are towering buildings everywhere, and the city really shows them off with a light show every night. Many flock to take in the skyline from across the harbor, but you can also go above the city to the top of Victoria Peak for a birds eye view of everything going on below.

Locks and Stuff

Apparently it is a thing to put a lock on a public structure to profess your love. NYC is officially not in favor of the practice of people putting stuff on their structures, but I believe it makes for an interesting photo.

By Bridge, Tram or Subway…

…You can get from here to Manhattan in a hurry. This was taken from the exclusive rooftop of a friend’s apartment on Roosevelt Island looking towards Manhattan. The bright lights may look peaceful from here, but the buzz of the city is just across the river.
