Boston by Night

The view of the great city of Boston by night. I was able to spend some time here recently, and had to take some of my obligatory night shots. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the skyline, but I was happy with what I found from the top of the Prudential Center. Hope you enjoy it too!

Cold Pier

An empty pier at night. Clear, cold and serene. In the summer this would be a very busy place, but this time of year even the water is frozen and still.

The Milwaukee River

The Milwaukee River at night! I don’t make it back to my homeland of Wisconsin very often in the summer. On this trip I was able to spend a night in Milwaukee with some friends, and had to check out this part of downtown. It was a cool clear night, and the lights shone perfectly off of the water. I didn’t have a tripod so I had to make the best of it by using a railing and some steady hands, and everything worked out just fine!

Early Morning

I had time for a few quick photos on my way from the bus stop to one of my favorite sunrise locations, the bean in Millennium Park. This particular building with some morning traffic in front of it was worth the stop.

Sapporo Snow Festival

Every year the city of Sapporo in Japan hosts one of the country’s largest winter events, the Sapporo Snow Festival. This attracts visitors from around the world to check out the many snow and ice sculptures. The best view of the event is from what is simply called the TV Tower. Personally I think it looks like a mini Eiffel Tower. I’ll admit that Mini Eiffel Tower would be an even worse name than TV Tower, so I’ll stick with the official name. This was also my first time travelling with an SLR! Even as I was learning the ropes I was excited to have the city and mountains as a backdrop to the display of snow and lights!

Market and 18th St.

The city of San Francisco from above. This probably isn’t the view you think of when you hear the words San Francisco, but you’ll find some very typical San Francisco elements in this photograph. There is Market Street (curved in the center) the Castro Theater, and of course the San Francisco Bay itself.

New Year’s Eve Long Ago

I took this photo on a very crowded New Year’s Eve a very long time ago. At least it felt like a very long time ago. Tonight I don’t anticipate such crazy crowds, but you never know.

From Santa, See You Next Year

I had a great Christmas and hope you did too. This ornament seemed to be saying to me, so long, it has been a great year and I’ll see you again soon!

Hello Seattle

The Seattle skyline is distinctive thanks to the Space Needle. A friend was excited to show off this view from Kerry Park, and for good reason! It is still one of my favorite views of the city.

Capitol Christmas

The Christmas Tree as seen in 2008 in front of the State Capitol of California. I have a Christmas party tonight so I thought this photo was appropriate!
