Make the Corner or End Up In The Drink

This is a scenic stairway that comes with a price if you don’t pay attention. Crater Lake is beautiful, but if you don’t turn when the stairs do you may find yourself falling down to the water below.

Mary Avenue Bridge

Shooting this bridge has been on my list for awhile, and I finally decided there was no time like the present. The sunset cooperated, but the lights did not. I waited until long after sunset for the bright lights to turn on that illuminate the towers but they never came on. That will be a photo for yet another day. Enjoy the sunset!

A Night at Grace Cathedral

Night shots require a little bit of patience along with some luck. It gets dark every night but not every night has this kind of mood to it. The dark sky made this long exposure really made Grace Cathedral look out of this world.

Last Light

This was on the beginning of a long drive from the west side to the east side of the Sierra Nevadas. The drive ahead of me was long, but I made time to stop for this beautiful sunset!

Fan Coral

It has been a whole week, I have to do it. I have to post another underwater photo. This one is a wide angle shot of some nice fan coral. I thought about getting rid of the shadow of one coral on the next, but I like the depth it brings out.

By the Tracks Again

I was actually travelling by car when I took this, but these tracks going toward Mt. Shasta meant I had to make a pit stop. It was a hot day after a lot of driving, and part of me wished I was up on top of Shasta where there is still snow.

Two Friends

I can’t explain why these guys wanted to hang out together, but they were inseparable the whole time I snorkeled with them. I like to think they were just friends, but maybe it was a camouflage technique. I’ve been holding onto this image for awhile as there was a lot of nasty backscatter in the original. Now I’m benefitting from a friend’s new knowledge, and used some new to me techniques to really clean this image up so I could post it!

Dog City

This building stands above the rest of downtown Mountain View. It wasn’t always a nice place to be. After it was built, it was not occupied for many years, and got the name Dog City due to the fact they let dogs live on the first floor to scare away squatters!

Travelling

Taking a road trip now is easy. You just drive and stop a lot to take pictures. I’m pretty sure riding in this wagon came with a different set of priorities.

The Crown Jewel

After living in California for many years, I finally understand why Point Lobos is considered the crown jewel of the California State Parks system. The entire coastline is impressive, both for the endless rocky shores and the intricate flora that seem to be able to grow anywhere.
