These Horses Know How to Live

I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of horses. I’d rather walk or bike than ride a horse, but Icelandic horses make me think differently. Their main job must be to hang around and look very majestic. This group absolutely posed themselves just perfectly in this arrangement because they knew I was coming, no doubt about it!

Puffins!

High on my list of things to see in Iceland was the puffins. I waited in this spot for quite some time but only saw them flying pretty far away. After a few more moments of patience they started popping out of their nests in the ground literally all around us! I can confirm they are even better looking in person than they are in this image.

The Tree and the Sky

The tree looks pretty dead, but the sky has a lot going on!

Two Friends

I can’t explain why these guys wanted to hang out together, but they were inseparable the whole time I snorkeled with them. I like to think they were just friends, but maybe it was a camouflage technique. I’ve been holding onto this image for awhile as there was a lot of nasty backscatter in the original. Now I’m benefitting from a friend’s new knowledge, and used some new to me techniques to really clean this image up so I could post it!

Moon Over Bernal Heights Over City

A perfectly clear day isn’t my favorite time to take photographs, but this particularly clear day in San Francisco meant the moon was out during the day, hanging out over The City.

End of the Line

I almost expected to see a ghost train while on this spooky old set of railroad tracks, but I did not. Instead I saw where trains used to cross the San Francisco Bay, but not much else happens today.

Mooooo

I’m from Wisconsin, and I haven’t shown my home state any love recently so here goes. I stopped the car to take this, but no one else driving by realized what the big fuss was about. There will always be a place in my heart for Wisconsin cheese and the cows responsible for it, and I needed to pay Bessie a tribute with a spot on the blog.

Skyline Sundown

My only goal driving down Skyline Boulevard was to catch the sunset, but I didn’t have much of a plan. The first trail I stopped at was a winner, I only had a short hike to get this shot.

Suburban Oaks

Sometimes, in the middle of all the houses, there is some open space for a sunset.

The Slowest U-Turn

What is a photographer to do on a rainy weekend in Sacramento? I decided to go snail hunting, and I found many right in my yard. This one was easy to find, and was a little camera shy, turning away from my camera every opportunity he got.
