Striped Shore Crab

I expected to see lots of awesome scenery in Point Lobos, but I did not expect to see crabs hiding in the rocks. Once you saw one, they seemed to be everywhere on the rocks along the shore.

The Crown Jewel

After living in California for many years, I finally understand why Point Lobos is considered the crown jewel of the California State Parks system. The entire coastline is impressive, both for the endless rocky shores and the intricate flora that seem to be able to grow anywhere.

Return From Old Baldy

A boardwalk makes the trip back down from Old Baldy a lot less sandy. As a kid I made the trek up this 93 foot high sand dune many times. Even though I’ve summited much higher places on earth since, this one will always have special memories.

Out of the Cave

The rock formations inside this cave provide a stark contrast to the redwood forest outside.

Watcha Lookin’ At?

This Elk was near the beach in a pretty populated area of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in California. You could tell he was accustomed to the attention, but he didn’t necessarily like it. He just sat there sizing up everyone as they walked along the trail.
