Emerald Bay on a Foggy Day
I took some friends out to Emerald Bay by Lake Tahoe to see the view. The view didn’t show up quite like we were hoping for, but it was still scenic!
Windswept Powder
A pleasant slope with some windswept powder available for the taking. All you have to do is jump in and poach that line.
Incoming Cable Car
The cable car at Squaw Valley as it approaches its landing spot at the top. This is taken from the restaurant at High Camp, a perfect vantage point to see the magnificent cable car coming up the mountain.
Night Cycling
Bicycles available for borrowing outside of the h2hotel in Healdsburg, CA. Our destination was the Spoonbar inside the hotel, but I didn’t make it inside without noticing these sharp white bicycles. I especially liked the way the purplish lights created shadows of the bike pedals on the concrete below.
Night Driving
This is a project I’ve wanted to do for a while. The idea is simple but the execution can be a little more difficult. I mounted my camera with a wide angle lens between the seats of my car. With the manual exposure set and a remote shutter release in my hand I was off to the races, or at least the city streets. I had a little help from my trusty assistant to fire a flash inside the car manually during some of the exposures. My first attempt was with 3.2 sec exposures, and I liked the results. I’ll play around with varying the time next, so I either get blur, or more sharp context for what is going on outside the car.
After taking a ton of photos driving around looking for lights, I decided what I had would work well as a video. So here you go, not only a photo but also a video I put together of the shots from the evening!
The astute viewer will also notice a little subtle advertising!
Radio Towers
The radio towers on top of Alpine Meadows. This scene is a short hike from the top of the Cornice Six lift, and is on your way to much of the better terrain that the mountain has to offer.
Snow Study #1
After an overnight snowfall in Lake Tahoe these branches were overweighted with snow, creating a cool pattern.
