The Crown Jewel

After living in California for many years, I finally understand why Point Lobos is considered the crown jewel of the California State Parks system. The entire coastline is impressive, both for the endless rocky shores and the intricate flora that seem to be able to grow anywhere.

Kite Over Haystack

When I first got to Haystack Rock in Oregon I was disappointed there were so many people on the beach. I thought they would just get in my photo, but one person helped out and flew a kite to add some nice color to the sky.

Watchful Eye

A gull keeps a watchful eye over the waves.

Rocky Shores

Calm tide pools nearby, crashing waves and jagged rocks reaching up out of the ocean in the distance.

Fatima I & Fatima IV

Two boats and a few groups of crazy kids on the beach.

What more needs to be said?

All Beach, No Sunrise

I had high hopes of catching the one day a year where there is a clear, fog-less sunrise from China Beach in San Francisco. As you can tell I must have picked the wrong day. I decided to make the best of the early morning and was able to get some cool shots of the beach in the fog.

A Rock With a View

This beach near Cambria had some rocks with a pretty great view of the ocean. The breaking waves by these cool rocks kept me entertained with my camera for quite awhile!

Agate Beach

A wave breaks on Agate Beach. This beach is part of Patrick’s Point State Park in Northern California. We spent a few hours here collecting rocks and just walking down this beautiful dark beach. This might not be a true black sand beach, but the darker sand looked pretty cool against the ocean.

Oregon Coast

On the long drive back home to California from Oregon I was treated to many great ocean views.  I had to pick and choose when to stop the car to take some photos.  This windblown sand beach proved to be worth the stop.

Haystack Rock

A popular shot, but I took it anyway. It was a great day to be at Cannon Beach, the weather was warm, there were a few clouds in the sky and the water felt just fine.
