The Cottonwood

The Cottonwood is a fantastic old ski lodge overlooking Truckee, CA that has been restored as a restaurant. An abandoned ski lift stands nearby that used to take skiers up all 700 feet of available vertical. Since then the resorts in Tahoe have greatly expanded their terrain, but this place remains to show what skiing in the area used to be like.

Dinner and a Show

Dinner and a show, where the dinner really is the show. The Kitchen in Sacramento is an amazing place. The meal itself is probably the best I have ever had, but you also get an evening of entertainment from the great staff there. No detail is overlooked. If you are in the area I highly recommend you check it out.

Down on the Corner

There are many cool sights in Playa del Carmen. This establishment on a bright yellow street corner is certainly one of them! It was early so not may people were out enjoying this restaurant yet, but I’m sure the crowds were coming!

Feelin’ Beachy

This restaurant that extended out onto the beach was a common sight in Playa del Carmen. To get this shot the way I wanted it I had to do a little bit of shooting from the hip, and I think I got lucky with the timing of the clouds and some of the patrons! I miss this place, with a cool and rainy week in progress here I’m ready to go back!

Magnolia

I don’t often do HDR, but this view of one of my favorite places in the haight just asked for it, so I decided to take some artistic liberty.  I like the way the colors came together and the result gives the image an older feel.

If you like this photo, you will also like my favorite food blog’s post on Magnolia featuring this very photo!
