Quadracci Pavilion

The Quadracci Pavilion of the Milwaukee Art Museum is simply breathtaking! This was an addition to the original museum and is certainly more noticeable than the rest of the structure. The 217 foot wide sunscreen you can see here opens and closes each day, or when the winds become too strong. I think it looks like a huge bird about to take off and fly over Lake Michigan.

The Way Down

One of my favorite hikes is Half Dome in Yosemite. This view of the cables on the way down means a lot of things. It means that you have come a long way, you’ve seen the top, and you still have a good couple hours of downhill that will be harder than you think before you get home.

Up the Sundial

A view of the main part of the huge sundial that is the business end of the Sundial Bridge in Redding. From this angle, it looks more like a harp than a bridge. As you can see it was cloudy, so I wasn’t able to tell the time with the bridge, but I was able to get some cool effects from the sky.

Walk This Way

Climbing the cables on the way to the top of Halfdome in Yosemite can be a daunting experince. I normally do this 14 mile hike on the weekends when these cables on the final ascent can be very crowded. Recently I did it mid week, and the cables were relatively empty. This allowed me a great view of the cables themselves. This angle is close to the top where the slope in front of you isn’t as steep, but the roll off to the side makes you think twice about what you are doing.
