Available

There is lots of available office space. I found this excellent example of a brand new and never occupied building. The lines of it are modern and sharp, so it did serve my purposes of creating an image on this overcast day.

The Weather

Normally the weather in Northern California this time of year is quite boring for photography. Sunshine, warm days and zero clouds. This year has not been normal. I took advantage of the crazy weather and shot these trees. The lighting was constantly changing and the shadows in the trees and on the ground were all over the place from the shifting clouds above.

Competition in the Markets

Two local markets on opposing corners of the street. Which will win your business? I guess this is what free competition in the market is all about, and the same applies to these guys.

Memorial Day

A view of Sacramento City Cemetery on Memorial Day 2011. Flags were everywhere. It was enough to make anyone stop and think.

Not In Use

The entrance to the old water intake on the Sacramento River. There is a much larger and more modern looking structure next to this that is currently used to pump water out of the river for the city. This one still has a certain amount of rustic charm to it.

Not the Golden Gate

Don’t be fooled, this is not the Golden Gate Bridge. I know, it can be difficult to tell the difference, but this is the much smaller Guy West Footbridge at Sacramento State University. It is still a pretty cool bridge and provides easy access to the trails on the other side of the American River.

Colorful Seating

My favorite lunch spot in all of Mexico! Well, at least my favorite lunch spot in the greater Playa del Carmen area, the Turtle Bay Cafe! Everything was fresh and delicious. This festive table also made for a great lunch before snorkeling in the bay with sea turtles.

Tahoe Winter Sunset

On a hike out after a day of back country skiing, I was rewarded with this intense sunset. The mountains provided the perfect venue to take it all in and relax for a minute before heading back to the cabin. What a great day!

Fern Canyon

Fern Canyon is a unique spot. First you must travel down a long dusty road, then take a short hike, and only then are you rewarded with two huge canyon walls of ferns on either side of you. We hopped back and forth across the river on the canyon floor thanks to the logs and planks along the way, and eventually climbed out for a view from the top before hiking out along the edge.

Sloping Vineyard

This photo sums up my weekend pretty well. Sunny days and plenty of vineyards and wine. I was in Healdsburg and had an excellent time!
