Looking up to Crazy Skies

Wide angles can do interesting things. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. From this angle it looks as if Westminster Abbey is reaching up to some imaginary point way up high in the puffy clouds.

By Bridge, Tram or Subway…

…You can get from here to Manhattan in a hurry. This was taken from the exclusive rooftop of a friend’s apartment on Roosevelt Island looking towards Manhattan. The bright lights may look peaceful from here, but the buzz of the city is just across the river.

Keep Climbing in 2017

This steep set of stairs on the high and narrow trail in Pinnacles National Park is a good reminder to keep on climbing up and up in the new year!

Welcome to 2017!

I started off the new year with a great hike at a place that is close to home but new to me, Pinnacles National Park. An afternoon hike led us from green valleys to high peaks, through talus caves and right over these rock pinnacles where it looked like there couldn’t possibly be a trail at all. A great adventure to start a new year!

Clouds Over Valley

I thought the climb to the top of Angel’s Landing would be the highlight of the day, but when we got back down to the start of the trail there was another great view to admire. Little puffy clouds spread out perfectly above the valley below and we were right in the middle of all of it.

Finding Fall

I had to travel to Utah to do it, but I was able to find some fall colors!

Follow the Chain

Follow the chain. Do not go right, do not go left. To the left and the right is down, along the chain is up. That is where you want to go.

New Bridge, Old Cathedral

The Millennium Bridge crosses the River Thames in London, and is an excellent contrast to the iconic St. Paul’s Cathedral in the background. Many people pass here everyday as their typical commute, but I had to stop and admire the new architecture in front of the old classics.

Water on the Moon

I didn’t really discover water on the moon, but if there was the Salton Sea is what it would look like. The ground is dry and dusty, no one else is around and it is smelly. Is the moon smelly? Probably not, but I digress. I stopped the car only a few times in our drive through this area, hopped out for a quick photo of this interesting place and then was quick to get on our way.

Last Days of Summer

This might not be what you think of during the summer, but this was a common scene when I was a kid. Corn lined the country roads as far as you could see. Later this week is the last day of summer, which brought back memories of days that looked a lot like this.
