Humpback Whales and Friends

I didn’t come here to watch whales, they showed up just like I did. I saw one come out of the water near Pacifica, and thought that might be the only one I saw. After a few minutes I realized there were at least four very close to shore and easy to see. They kept popping up to catch fish, which attracted a ton of birds to pick up the scraps. I could figure out where the whales were going next just by watching the birds.

Surfers at Sunset

A trip to San Diego isn’t complete without catching a sunset at the beach. Throw in some surfers doing their thing and the evening couldn’t be better!

Sundown at Point Reyes

Point Reyes has many miles of beautiful seashore. The sunset only makes the view better. Walking out to the very tip of the peninsula was fun, and making our way back in the calm after sunset was very peaceful.

Into the Sea

I love waterfalls. I love the ocean. The incredible McWay Waterfall in Big Sur gave me the best of both with a waterfall that drops right onto the beach.

Super Sunday

This really was a super Sunday, no bowl required! Living close to Levi’s Stadium, home to this year’s Super Bowl, meant it was a good excuse to get out of town for the weekend and check out Big Sur. A sunset on Pfeiffer Beach with fewer people than usual was just the ticket for a relaxing Sunday.

Last Light at Pigeon Point

After a day of hiking, I had to rush down to the shoreline to catch sunset at this old lighthouse. It was worth the hustle, as I had just enough time to set up for this shot before the sun went down.

Capitola Sunrise

An unusually warm and clear weekend in Capitola meant some great early light over the ocean.

Rocky Shores

Calm tide pools nearby, crashing waves and jagged rocks reaching up out of the ocean in the distance.

Just a Bird and a Sunset

This big fella was hanging out on the Pismo Beach Pier as I was walking by. He didn’t seem to notice me, but I’m pretty sure he was nonchalantly looking for a hand out. I quickly snapped his photo before he expected too much of me and went about my business

Look Through to Coastal Rocks

I had to do a little convincing of some in the group to hike out on this narrow point high above the water. This view alone was worth it for me, the fuzz on the tree branches framed up this rock sticking out of the ocean perfectly. We all lived to tell the tale!
