Not So Itsy Bitsy Spider

This spider had made a pretty impressive web on my back porch. I decided to leave it there to see if I could get a good shot of him and sure enough, he was nice enough to pose for a few shots and deal with quite a few bursts from my flash!

Buds

Some tiny yellow buds bursting onto the scene from their white stems.

Yellow

This shot is pure yellow. I liked getting close for this one, it almost makes me forget exactly what I’m looking at.

Spheres

The vines at my house produce these spheres that look like berries, but are probably flower buds. They change color as they mature, and you can often see many different colors at once.

Red

It has been very hot here, so I wanted to post something red.  This is one of the daylilies from my yard.  The red petals really get the rest of the flower to pop.

Hydrangea Bee

I knew I had to get some photos when the hydrangea in the backyard was in full bloom.  There were so many bees out that day I thought this would be easy, but these little guys move fast.  I finally caught a good one.  This is one of my favorites that I’ve taken recently.

Into the Abyss

This ant was crawling all around a flower that I found.  In this shot it looks like he is debating whether or not to step into an abyss.

Escaping Bee

While walking around the California State Capitol one day I noticed some nice bottle brush that I thought would make a nice photograph.  There was only one bee there, and I caught him just as he was getting ready to fly  away.  Certainly made it more interesting than the bottle brush alone.

Starting a new idea…

I take a lot of photographs and I like to think that I have a few good ones.  My goal is to share a creative photo with you every day.  It could be a recent photo or one out of my archives.  This site won’t contain albums and albums of photos, but instead some of my favorites that make me happy.  I hope that you continue to stop by, and I hope that you like what you see!

Let’s get to the first photo!  Some friends brought over flowers so I decided to capitalize on the opportunity.  This is a macro I took while I was experimenting with using a flash for back lighting.
