This isn’t my actual backyard, but it was for one great weekend in Eastern Washington. Not a bad place to spend some time and take in a few sunsets!

With the Current
The current can be strong, there is no use fighting it. Sometimes it is just best to grow with the flow.

First Light
The trail on the left was the start of a very long but very rewarding day of hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back. It might look like daylight in this picture, but the sun had just come up on the other side of the ridge to reveal this view.
Trail to a Hole in the Clouds
I just wanted to go for a hike on a nice spring day, but this trail looked like it wanted to take me all the way up into the sky.
Spooky Fleet
These decommissioned ships are known as the Reserve Fleet. They have patiently waited for years to be disassembled as they rust away in the bay. When they are finally gone I’ll miss their eerie presence.
The Biggest Fish in the Sea
I immediately forgot about the long, rough boat ride as soon as I spotted my first whale shark. A wide angle lens masks just how massive these guys really are. Despite their size, they weren’t very interested in me, and swam on by looking for more tiny bits of food to filter out of the Caribbean Sea.
