Snowy Barn

This old barn covered in snow on the side of the road was not in the best of shape, but that was just fine with me as I really liked the way it looked. I caught this just at the right time of day to get some shadows of the trees on the silo.

Tools of the Trade

This is an image of the oil paints of my favorite artist! I may be a little partial, but that really isn’t the point. I saw these colorful paints in the studio and knew that I had to do something with them. While I don’t like this image as much as the paintings that they will become, I still think the colors all lined up in a row made an image with some great contrast.

Sunrise on a New Day

Happy New Year! This picture seemed like a great one for New Year’s Day, just as today is the first day of a new year, this was a great sunrise on a new day. This particular lighthouse is in Algoma Wisconsin and is something that I was vary familiar with growing up, often hearing the fog horn from my house. The ice on the shore was a pretty good indication of temperature I got to enjoy while I was waiting for the sun to rise!

New Year’s Eve Long Ago

I took this photo on a very crowded New Year’s Eve a very long time ago. At least it felt like a very long time ago. Tonight I don’t anticipate such crazy crowds, but you never know.

Peekaboo Silo

This is another one from my recent trip to Wisconsin. Someone had taken an old farm silo and added a little flair to it. I wasn’t able to get a clear shot of just the silo, but I think I like it better this way with the tree branches almost framing it.

Salmon Colored Buds

Tiny salmon colored buds of an unnamed (by me) plant at the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco. I had to fight the humidity to get photos in this place, but with some patience I was able to get my lenses cleared up and make some photographs.

Lake Icicles

I went to Lake Michigan early one morning to catch the sunrise. It was pretty overcast and cleared up a bit later. I did get some sunrise shots, but I also really like these crazy icicles that were right by the water. The ice went right up to the edge, so I had to be careful not to fall in, as that water looked way too cold for a swim. As the sun broke through the clouds it lit up these icicles just perfectly!

From Santa, See You Next Year

I had a great Christmas and hope you did too. This ornament seemed to be saying to me, so long, it has been a great year and I’ll see you again soon!

Mt. Tallac

This was taken on the way up Mt. Tallac in Tahoe on a day I spent backcountry skiing last season. The snow has been falling big time in California so my attention has been turning back to the mountains in Tahoe. This was a beautiful day, you can see some tracks in the center of the frame, and that is what kept us going on this long hike up!

Peppers!

Those of you who know me know that this is one of my favorite photos. If you haven’t seen it, consider this my Christmas present to you. The gift that keeps on giving, the gift of peppers!
This was taken in Seattle at the farmer’s market. First, I spent some time taking pictures of some not very photogenic fish. Those pics aren’t really photo blog worthy. These peppers on the other hand were certainly my favorite shot of the day!
