Hello Seattle

The Seattle skyline is distinctive thanks to the Space Needle. A friend was excited to show off this view from Kerry Park, and for good reason! It is still one of my favorite views of the city.

Not So Itsy Bitsy Spider

This spider had made a pretty impressive web on my back porch. I decided to leave it there to see if I could get a good shot of him and sure enough, he was nice enough to pose for a few shots and deal with quite a few bursts from my flash!

Halloween Cemetery

This creepy looking grave in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago seemed perfect for my Halloween post. This old cemetery has many unique graves, but this one with a cloaked man watching over you had a certain presence to it.

Colored Trees

After the outsidelands concert in San Francisco, they lit up the trees with crazy colored lights. It was very sureal.

Las Vegas

I love the vegas.  This view from the Venetian was particularily colorful and the full moon was beautiful!

Stars and Cars

I went out to see the Perseids last week.  I don’t think I was lucky enough to have my camera pointed at the right spot in the sky to capture any actual shooting stars.  I did manage to catch this car going over the top of the hill we were on.  Throw in some scenic cell towers and you have a nice contrast to the starry sky.

Lollapalooza

Today marks the beginning of one of my favorite events, Lollapalooza in Chicago.  This is a photo I took a previous year.  I love the lakefront location and cityscape backdrop coming together to create a perfect feeling for this event.

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked

And money don’t grow on trees.  That is what the band Cage the Elephant would tell you.  I saw these guys live and they put on quite the show.  They were so into it (or out of it?) that I’m not sure how the lead singer stayed upright during the performance, but he managed to keep moving all over the stage and sounded great.

Rides and Explosions

One of the last photos I took at the state fair was also one of my favorites.  I wanted to be able to catch the big wheel and the fireworks in one frame, and the only way to do that was to be just outside of the gates.  There were other fireworks that were larger, but I dig the way these white streaks mimic the spokes of the ferris wheel itself.
