Palms in the Hood

This nice and even row of palm trees with a few taller outliers has always interested me. The sunset on this night was the perfect way to show off this particular street in my neighborhood.

Trail to the Clouds

The hike down this dry trail was getting a little boring until I rounded the corner. Suddenly I was in an entirely different place above the clouds that were rolling in from the ocean. My destination was Stinson Beach below, and the change in landscape made it feel so much closer.

Into the Sea

I love waterfalls. I love the ocean. The incredible McWay Waterfall in Big Sur gave me the best of both with a waterfall that drops right onto the beach.

I’m Not a Plant!

Some type of soft coral? Nope! This is really a feather duster worm, or Sabellidae. The way it waved back and forth in the current on this dive made it look a lot more like a plant than an animal. You have to be quick to get a shot like this. Once they know you are there they will quickly retreat into the tube base they build for themselves, and you’ll miss all the interesting bits.

Flower of Spring

This flower has popped open and is ready for the first days of spring!

Snow Across the Water

The waters of Lake Tahoe might be calm, but the storms keep coming in. The Sierra Nevadas are finally getting some much needed snow!

Bighorn Sheep

I have a history of getting up close and personal with wildlife on what are supposed to be ski trips. When life doesn’t give you fresh snow you make the most of it and take wildlife photos! This bighorn sheep was hanging out above the Rio Grande on the rocks along the trail just waiting for us. He checked us out for awhile before making his way down the steep edge of the river out of sight.

Spring in the Dormant Orchard

This area used to be primarily orchards. Now it is mostly offices and condos, but this orchard still exists. A recent storm passing through created great light to give contrast to the new living buds and the dormant trees.

Little Cottonwood Canyon

The rewards of skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon are not only the fluffy Utah powder, but the sunset you are treated to on the way back down the mountain. Even though I was tired after a long day of skiing I made time to stop and appreciate this beautiful sunset.

The Road to Joshua Tree

This is a good road. It leads to many great adventures in Joshua Tree National Park. Fortunately, traffic wasn’t much of a problem and I was able to take the photo documenting the journey on the way in.
