Halloween Cemetery

This creepy looking grave in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago seemed perfect for my Halloween post. This old cemetery has many unique graves, but this one with a cloaked man watching over you had a certain presence to it.

Morning Fog

With Halloween right around the corner I wanted to find something a little spooky to post today. The morning I took this it was really foggy and the sunrise looked more like a creepy moon. I love the mild winters in Northern California and these foggy mornings are something that I have to look forward to break up the many days of sunshine we get in a row during the summer!

Duck Flower

These tiny purple flowers looked more like a duck than a flower to me. I was able to isolate it from the background enough to really make each little piece of fuzz on the edge stand out and make it look much more like the duck that I saw in it.

Up the Sundial

A view of the main part of the huge sundial that is the business end of the Sundial Bridge in Redding. From this angle, it looks more like a harp than a bridge. As you can see it was cloudy, so I wasn’t able to tell the time with the bridge, but I was able to get some cool effects from the sky.

Brain Mushroom

I found this little tiny mushroom on a hike that had a leaf nearby with just the perfect curl to it. I don’t know exactly what it was, but it looked like a brain to me.

Graves and Twists

The cemetery at the Presidio in San Francisco is the best view I’ve ever seen from such a somber place.  Everything in the area is just beautiful, but there are some really dramatic slopes and trees in the cemetery.  I love the twists in the trees from the wind as it comes in off of the bay.

This is my 100th post.  Woohoo!

For those wondering why I would post about death for my obviously special 100th post, the truth is it snuck up on me.  I didn’t realize it was the 100th until I had already chosen and processed a photo, so I just decided to go with it!

Sea Anemone

This was taken in Monterey California, but not at the aquarium.  It was taken close to the breakwater in the ocean.  This was my first dive with a new camera setup, and it was a test dive for an upcoming trip.  I didn’t get a lot of great shots due to conditions, but this one was particularly clear and I really like the way the wavy tentacles turned out.

Wat

There are many Temples, or Wats in Thailand, and many of them have lots of gold.  This one in Chiang Mai is certainly an example of the Thai’s love of gold.  It is very well lit at night to make it really shine.

Grace

Grace Cathedral in San Francisco is a beautiful place.  I hadn’t been inside before so I took the opportunity to get a few photos.

Irving St. Kitchen

A cool spot in Portland Oregon; the Irving St. Kitchen.  These little discs that they used for the sign by the entrance caught my eye and I snapped this shot.
